What do comedian Kitty Flanagan, musician Bernard Fanning and political firebrand Jacqui Lambie have in common? They’ll all call the Feros Care Marquee home during next month’s Byron Writers Festival.

Now in its sixth year as a major sponsor of the annual event, the aged care provider will roll out the red carpet for some of the country’s most talented writers and creative minds as it plays host to 19 sessions across the three-day festival.

Founded in Byron Bay more than 25 years ago, Feros Care is a strong supporter of local events and will once again facilitate festival visits by members of its nearby residential villages.

“Like us, the Byron Writers Festival has grown from humble beginnings to be a vital part of the local landscape and we feel an affinity with its efforts to promote the power of storytelling,” Feros Care CEO Jennene Buckley said.

“The people we care for in our residential villages and the wider community all have stories to tell and while they may not be able to share them via a bestselling book, our staff play an important role in ensuring they are heard.”

In addition to hosting the marquee, Feros Care will sponsor the ever-popular author book signing tent, as well as give festival patrons the chance to turn a few simple words into $10,000 courtesy of its Bold Bucket List Competition.

The initiative challenges entrants to embrace growing bold by sharing their bucket list items in 25 words or less, with one winner to receive $10,000 to turn their dream into reality.

Byron Writers Festival Director Edwina Johnson said the support of sponsors such as Feros Care was significant and helped ensure the ongoing success of the event.

“We have formed a great relationship with the Feros Care team during the past six years and look forward to once again seeing their marquee filled with festival-goers,” she said.

I know how much some of their village residents love attending the Festival, which is all part of the Festival’s commitment to community outreach and collaboration with community enterprises.

Byron Writers Festival will host 140 writers and thinkers in total, with panels and conversations unfolding across six stages at the stunning beachside site.

Writers participating in sessions in the Feros Care Marquee include comedians Kitty Flanagan and Andrew Hansen, World Adaptive Surfing Champion Barney Miller and his singer-songwriter wife Kada, formidable women in politics Anne Aly and Jacqui Lambie, memoirist Bri Lee, songwriters Bernard Fanning and Tim Rogers, crime sensations Candice Fox, Dervla McTiernan and Chris Womersley, Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty, novelist Tom Keneally, Indigenous leader Warren Mundine and historian Henry Reynolds.
