Alexandria Eves is a female athlete whose determination and persistence helped her overcome a catastrophic car accident. Alex is now on the journey to rebuilding her life as a sprinter. She is committed to qualify for the chance to represent Australia as a sprinter in the Paralympic Games.

How would your family or friends describe you?
Resilient and motivated.
What makes you unique?
I think outside the box, I see opportunities and positives everywhere.
What do you really love doing?
Keeping my body and mind healthy. Trying new things.
What makes you the happiest?
Being with friends and family who are supportive of me and like to share a laugh.
What upsets you?
Being denied any of my rights.
What would you say are your strengths?
Motivation and determination.
What would you say are your weaknesses?
I'm too giving.
What are you most proud of?
Being able to run again and run well - despite being told I may not be able to do so.
What is your greatest dream in life?
A good relationship - with a person who understands me.
What are the top three things you want to achieve in life?
1. Run a successful business.
2. Achieve as much as I can in para-sport.
3. Travel the world.
What is important to you in life?
Being independent.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome?
Realising that some of the things I had wanted to do in my life, I probably won't be able to do now.
If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be?
Not to have had the accident.
What are your biggest fears for the future?
Making sure I have enough income - to live independently and with dignity.
How do you feel about having a disability?
I'm not impressed that I now have a disability- but I am fairly impressed I live with dignity. Living with a disability gives me a new perspective on life.
How would you describe your disability and how it impacts you to someone who doesn’t know anything about it?
I have Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) - it is an unseen injury, not a visible injury. People see me as fit and healthy, so they assume there is nothing wrong.
What is the hardest thing about having a disability?
Fatigue. It means I can't do as much of the stuff in life that I really would like to do .
