Telephone Interpreters: Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS), Department of Immigration and Citizenship is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is accessible from anywhere in Australia for the cost of a local call on 131 450 or www.tisnational.gov.au

Directory of Accredited Practitioners of Translating and Interpreting: The National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) Hotline: 1300 557 470 within Australia or www.naati.com.au 

Yellow Pages: Translators and interpreters can be found in the Yellow Pages under “Interpreters” and/or “Translators”.

Rights to advocacy

You have the right to choose and nominate an advocate to represent your interests at any time and for any purpose. An advocate is a person or organisation who, with your authority, represents your best interests. Their purpose is to ensure that your rights to care, and support needs are adequately upheld. Advocates can become involved in negotiating your Consumer Agreement, care assessments, service delivery, complaint and grievance submissions, or in any other form of communication between you and Feros Care. You can elect a close family member or friend to be your advocate or contact the Seniors Rights Service on 1800 424 079.

Older Persons Advocacy Network

The Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) is available to support older people and their families who are at risk of, or may experience, elder abuse. OPAN services are free, independent and confidential, and supported by funding from the Australian Government Department of Health. OPAN can be contacted on 1800 700 600.
