What is residential respite care?
Residential respite care, or carers break, is 24/7 care in a residential aged care village for a set period of time. Residential respite care is a great way to experience life in our Feros Care residential villages, while also giving you, the carer, a much needed break. A short break in respite care can also be a great way to make sure you and your loved one feel comfortable about the idea of moving into an aged care village as a permanent resident.
Residential respite stays in our villages on average are for 2 week blocks. Depending on your needs this can be extended. Each financial year you are eligible for up to 63 days of residential respite care, including in home respite service. Respite care costs are the equivalent of 85% of a full aged pension.
Who is respite suitable for?
- Respite care is suitable for all older Australians with a full-time carer. If you have been considering moving into an aged care village then using our residential respite service can allow you to try out a village before you commit to full-time residential care.
- Are you caring for a loved one? Are you planning a holiday, or just generally need a little bit of time for rest and recuperation? A short stay in a respite facility can help both you and your loved one
Am I eligible for residential respite?
If you have received and have been approved for residential care by the Australian Government’s Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) then you are eligible for Feros Cares residential respite services, either in home respite care or at one of our residential villages.
If you have not yet completed a residential care assessment or are awaiting an outcome of your assessment please contact our caring staff to support you with your request for residential respite. We are available to assist with your request Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm (AEST) 1300 090 256.
Looking for in home respite?
Our in home respite services means we’ll come to you and there’ll be little disruption to the care recipient’s routine. We can visit during the day and can even stay overnight.
