What Is Residential Respite Care?

Residential respite care is 24/7 care in a residential aged care village for a set period of time and is also known as ‘carers break’. Residential respite care is suitable for all seniors with a full-time carer who have received and been approved for residential care by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT).

The average residential respite stay is a 2-week block, with recipients eligible for up to 63 days of residential respite care every financial year. This includes in-home respite services, which is respite care that takes place in a person’s home.
